From the Reviews:
- "Tommy Wieringa's ambitious novel, translated by Sam Garrett, is a brilliant exploration of the uneasy transition from adolescence into adulthood – the restlessness, yearning for stability, irrational decisions and erotic obsessions." - Lucy Popescu, The Independent
- "Although perfectly charming as picaresque, the tragedy of Unger’s plight registers just as strongly as its understated oddness." - Publishers Weekly
Please note that these ratings solely represent the complete review's biased interpretation and subjective opinion of the actual reviews and do not claim to accurately reflect or represent the views of the reviewers.
Similarly the illustrative quotes chosen here are merely those the complete review subjectively believes represent the tenor and judgment of the review as a whole. We acknowledge (and remind and warn you) that they may, in fact, be entirely unrepresentative of the actual reviews by any other measure.

Notes about the Reviews and the Book's Reception:
Noteworthy here is the fact that yet again US and UK publishers chose different titles -- with the Americans opting for the ... simpler Little Caesar.
One might generously suppose it's a reaction to the limited reactions to the book in the UK (where it was published more than a year before the US edition), but the dumbing down of the title (the narrator's nickname) was probably inevitable in the US market.
I gave this a go, but it was so unbearably flat that I couldn't bring myself to press on.
In summary it sounded like it had decent potential, but a third of the way through it I still couldn't find much .....
